Ogni is a project to collect memories of pre-revolutionary artists. The project is named after the St. Petersburg publishing house Ogni (“Lights” in Russian), which existed from 1909 to 1923 and which, among other things, published a series of books called Memoir Library.
This site publishes fragments from memoirs about artists. The names of most fragments are conventional. They were invented by the project participants for ease of use. Each fragment has a link to its source.
Now the site contains 46 memoirs about 51 artists.
